Course Engagement

William Jewell College has specific policies regarding substantial interaction and engagement. Check your William Jewell Outlook email weekly to ensure that you do not miss important messages.

  • We highly encourage all participants to attend and actively engage in the live Zoom sessions, as these experiences are designed to deepen your learning and foster meaningful connection with our community. However, we understand that schedules, unexpected events, and time zones may present challenges. If you’re unable to join live, please watch the session recording as soon as possible to stay aligned with the course flow and maximize your learning. More information on what to do if you miss a session can be found here: William Jewell Degree Zoom Meeting and Attendance Protocols.
  • Students are expected to adhere to the substantial interaction policy by engaging at minimum weekly in each course between its first and last Zoom class.
  • Students are expected to complete course content in alignment with the asynchronous coursework pacing guide (see your syllabi within your course) and submit assignments on time.
  • Late assignments will lose 10% of the possible points for their assignment grade. For example, a late 50-point assignment will lose 5 points, and a late 40-point assignment will lose 4 points. Please plan ahead, submit your assignments early when possible, and do so with care to ensure that you are uploading the correct files.
  • If you are inactive in Brightspace for 7+ days between your course’s first and last live meetings, or if you are late to submit an assignment, you will receive email outreach with reminders and resources to reengage. If you remain inactive for 14 days and are not up to date with your course progress, you will be at risk of administrative withdrawal (see syllabi for details).
