Pathways Overview
The Master's of Science in Education in Transformative Teaching & Learning can be completed in either a 3-semester accelerated pathway or a 4-semester extended pathway.
- 3 Semester (Standard Start): The 12-month degree plan is “Full Time and Accelerated” and requires significant time to complete live classes and asynchronous coursework. Only individuals who can commit to this amount of time outside of work should sign up for this track.
- 3.5 Semester (Late Start): Same full-time, accelerated rigor as the 3 Semester plan, this pathway is for students enrolling after the standard start date. The first term is condensed (~7 weeks) to get you in sync with your cohort. Best for those who can commit significant hours outside of work.
- 4 semester (Standard Start): The 18-month option is designed for full-time professionals, especially educators, and allows students to complete multiple courses each semester.
- 4.5 Semester (Late Start): The same working-professional-friendly structure as the 4 Semester plan, built around a full-time job (especially for educators), but for students joining after the standard start. You begin with a condensed first term, then move into the standard multi-course-per-semester pace.
- 5 semester (Standard Start): The 24-month option is also available for those seeking to pursue their degree at a more spacious pace, taking only 1-2 classes per semester.
Expected Workload
Expect to spend at least 1-2 hours of work outside of class meetings per credit hour enrolled. This includes the application component of the curriculum, which involves implementing practices within your classroom or educational context.
For example: if you enroll in 8 credits, you should spend 8-16 hours per week on your asynchronous coursework. This includes time spent implementing what you’re learning in your classroom and educational context.
