Layers of Support

One of the unique strengths of our Master's program is the network of support available to you throughout your journey. As a working educator balancing professional, personal, and academic responsibilities, you will have access to multiple layers of support designed to help you learn, grow, stay connected, and successfully complete your degree.

Community Group
During your foundational Master’s courses (EDU 620 and EDU 621), you will be placed in a Community Group of approximately 8–12 like-minded educators. Your group serves as a space for connection, encouragement, accountability, and shared learning.

Community Groups:
  • Connect during live class sessions and in breakout discussions
  • Engage in meaningful conversations throughout the program
  • Provide mutual accountability and encouragement
  • Build lasting professional relationships and friendships
  • Stay connected through a private WhatsApp group

Many students find that their Community Group becomes one of the most valuable aspects of their Master's experience.

Instructions on how to connect with your Community Group via WhatsApp can be found here: William Jewell Master's Degree WhatsApp Access.

Community Group Leader

Each Community Group is supported by a dedicated Community Group Leader who helps create a welcoming, connected, and engaging learning environment.

Your Community Group Leader will:
  • Foster connection and engagement within your WhatsApp group
  • Encourage meaningful discussion and reflection
  • Support relationship-building among peers
  • Share opportunities, events, and resources from Breathe For Change
  • Help cultivate a strong sense of belonging and community

Faculty & Academic Advisors
Throughout your program, you will learn from and receive support from Breathe For Change faculty, teaching assistants, and advisors. Faculty provide instruction, feedback, and expertise across live classes, coursework, and program experiences.

Your Academic Advisor serves as your primary academic point of contact and thought partner throughout your Master's journey. Advisors support students by:
  • Providing guidance on degree planning and academic pathways
  • Offering individualized support through one-on-one meetings
  • Supporting the development of Action Research skills and projects
  • Serving as a thought partner during the Master's Capstone process
  • Helping students navigate academic milestones and degree requirements

Student Support & Care Team
Questions about onboarding, technology access, transcripts, registration, billing, or other student services can be directed to the appropriate William Jewell College support team. Contact information can be found here.

If you fall behind the recommended course pacing, miss assignment deadlines, or have not accessed course materials for an extended period, you may receive outreach from the Breathe for Change and William Jewell Care Team. Their role is to provide support, remove barriers, and help you successfully re-engage with your learning.

Additional Resources

In addition to the support resources listed above, you will have an opportunity to access the Educator Collective, an optional online community of educators interested in enhancing well-being and social-emotional learning for themselves and the communities in which they serve!

This online community holds our Training spaces, Membership subscription, Teacher’s Lounge, and Master’s Community. The Teacher’s Lounge is free to all training and degree students, and the Master’s Community is free to all degree students. Both include features that allow students to engage asynchronously and see who lives nearby for potential in-person meetups! More information can be found in this article: Breathe for Change Educator Collective.
