William Jewell Master's Degree Tuition & Financing
Everything you need to know about paying for your master's: how your tuition bill is calculated, what each semester should cost, how Jewell's payment plans work, how financial aid fits in, and who to contact when something looks off.
Common questions this page answers
- "How much will each semester cost?"
- "Where can I find my William Jewell tuition bill?"
- "How do I set up a payment plan, and when do I need to do it by?"
- "When will my financial aid show up?"
- "Can I change the amount of my FAFSA award?"
- "Who do I contact if my bill looks wrong?"
How your tuition works
You're never billed for the whole degree at once. William Jewell bills you once per semester, only for the credits you're taking that semester. Each semester's bill can then be split across a payment plan or covered by financial aid.
Credits you're taking that semester × your per-credit rate = your estimated semester bill

Also on your account: a $50 graduation fee at the end of the program, and a $50 payment-plan setup fee each semester you use a plan.
Estimated semester payments
Your semester costs follow your course plan, so they aren't an even split. Your first semesters carry more credits and cost more; your final semester is the lightest. Find your start term below.
All figures are estimates based on today's rate of $493 per credit (Educator Scholarship). William Jewell's Student Financial Services team confirms your final bill once you're registered.

Because Early Start begins partway through a term, you'll usually have two installments (sometimes one) available for your Early Start semester.
Add the $50 setup fee to any semester you use a plan.
Payment plans
William Jewell offers a payment plan every semester through MeadowPay. Your semester bill is divided evenly across the number of payments still available when you enroll in the plan.
- $50 setup fee per semester. No interest, and no credit check.
- Payments are due on the 21st of each month of the semester.
- The earlier you register, the more payments you get. Payment dates are fixed to the semester, not to you. If you set up your plan after a payment date has passed, that payment is simply no longer available, and your semester total is divided across fewer, larger payments.

Two small fees to know about. These apply to any payment to William Jewell, whether or not you're on a plan:
- 2.5% service fee on credit and debit card payments. Paying from a bank account avoids it.
- 1% fee on late payments.
Your payment must be in place before your first day. William Jewell requires your payment plan to be set up (or your financial aid to be complete) about one week before classes begin. If neither is in place, you won't be able to start that semester. Your exact date is on your cohort's enrollment timeline.
Accessing and paying your tuition bill
- Get registered. Once your onboarding is complete, you'll be registered for your courses.
- Your bill opens about 48 hours after you're registered.
- Choose how to pay. Log into your Self-Service portal and open the Student Finance tab, or go straight to MeadowPay: https://pay.jewell.edu/. From there you can pay the semester in full, enroll in a payment plan, or, if you're using financial aid, confirm your aid is complete and set up a plan for any remaining balance.
Using financial aid (FAFSA)
William Jewell is eligible for federal student aid. FAFSA school code: 002524.
Apply at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa.
Your aid applies automatically once your Financial Aid checklist is fully complete. To check it, open the Financial Aid tab in your Self-Service portal.
Steps most students miss (do these early):
- Entrance counseling and your Master Promissory Note (MPN). Both are free, both are completed at studentaid.gov, and your aid can't be applied until both are done. You can complete them any time.
- You may need two FAFSAs. The federal award year runs July 1 – June 30.
- Summer awards are smaller. Summer is a shorter term, so plan on aid covering less of a summer semester than a fall or spring one.
Can I adjust my FAFSA award?
Yes. The loan amount William Jewell offers is the most you can borrow for the year, not the amount you have to take. You never need to accept more than the semester costs.
- Before you accept. In your Self-Service portal, open the Financial Aid tab and set the academic year to the current one. Each item in your package has an Accept or Decline choice. If you accept a loan, you can type in a lower amount than the one offered.
- After you accept. You can still change it. Submit the new amount through Self-Service, or email sfs@william.jewell.edu with your student ID and the amount you'd like. A changed amount sends your award back to Student Financial Services to be re-packaged, and it comes back to Self-Service for you to accept again. Your aid can't apply to your bill until that re-packaged award is accepted, so check Self-Service after you ask for the change.
- Going up. Graduate students can borrow up to $20,500 per award year (July 1 – June 30) and no more than $10,250 in any one semester, and never more than Jewell's published cost of attendance. An increase is only possible within that room, and Jewell confirms your number.
Federal loan basics
- Graduate students can borrow up to $20,500 per award year in federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans.
- Grad PLUS loans are no longer available to new borrowers as of July 1, 2026.
- If your aid is more than your tuition, the refund is sent to you about two - four weeks after the semester starts, not before.
William Jewell Tuition FAQs
How much will my semester cost?
Multiply your credits that semester by your per-credit rate ($493 Educator Scholarship) See Estimated semester payments above for your full set of semesters.
When are tuition payments due?
Plan payments are due on the 21st of each month during the semester. If you're not on a plan, your full balance is due one week before class starts. Either way, your plan or aid must be in place about one week before classes start.
Can I still get a payment plan if I register late?
Yes. You'll just have fewer payments, and your semester total is divided across whichever dates remain.
Does the payment plan charge interest?
No. The only cost is the $50 setup fee each semester.
Is there a fee to pay by card?
Yes. William Jewell adds a 2.5% service fee to credit and debit card payments. Paying from a bank account avoids it.
Why am I still getting a notification about my bill if it's paid?
If you're using financial aid, you may keep receiving a bill until your aid is disbursed, typically about two weeks after the semester begins. Check the Financial Aid tab in your Self-Service portal to make sure your checklist is complete. If you paid another way, check the Student Finance tab to confirm the payment was applied. If it isn't showing, email sfs@william.jewell.edu with your payment confirmation attached.
Can I change the amount of my FAFSA award?
Yes, before or after you accept it. You can accept a lower amount than offered in Self-Service, and a change after acceptance is re-packaged by Student Financial Services and sent back for you to accept again. See Can I adjust my FAFSA award? above.
What happens if I fall behind on a payment?
A 1% late fee applies to late payments. If you think you'll miss a payment, reach out before the due date; it's much easier to solve ahead of time. Full policies are in the William Jewell Course Catalog.
Who should I contact with questions about my tuition?
Start with the Breathe for Change onboarding team. We work directly with William Jewell's financial services team on our students' behalf and can usually get you an answer quickly. For questions about a specific charge or payment on your account, you can also email William Jewell Student Financial Services at sfs@william.jewell.edu.
